My current stylistic execution is about celebrating my numerous artistic influences. There are pieces of this painting taken directly from Francis Bacon to Rothko, to the great Leon Golub. In these paintings it's more about how I am painting them, than the subject matter contained. However, that is always a player, and in this case the striped shirt might suggest that it is a portrait of a prisoner. Incarcerated for a political crime? Or trapped in a bad relationship? That is for the viewer to decide. I would rather draw t he viewer in with the visual interest of the surface collage and painted composition and once I have their attention have them project their own experiences and story into the work. Somewhat like a guided Rorschach Test. But nobody judging or waiting to diagnose you of anything.
