David McPhail is best known for his animal characters in books like "Pig Pig Grows Up" and "The Bear's Toothache." He also draws inspiration from his four children, who sometimes come out in his characters. David grew up loving art, but worked several other jobs, including one as a shipping clerk in a book clearing house. It was there that he discovered children’s books. Since then, he's illustrated more than 50 books and is still going strong.
