Kelly Wyly is a professional artist whose artwork resides in collections throughout the globe, both in private and corporate collections alike. She lives and works in Woody Creek, Colorado. Most of Kelly's paintings and ceramics are inspired by her extensive travels throughout the South of France as well as by daily life in Aspen's Roaring Fork Valley. She began traveling to the South of France in 1997 to study master ceramics at Atelier Sassi-Milici in Vallauris, France with Francis Milici and Dominique Sassi. Over the yers Vallauris has become the "City of Potters" where tourists and art lovers from the four corners of the world visit its' workshops that have attracted master ceramists such as Pablo Picasso and Jean Marais. Several of the colors in Ms. Wyly's paintings and ceramics are representative of the sunny days spent in Southern France. She also captures the red tiled roofs and rolling hills that are indicative of that region. Other paintings portray scenes viewed in and around her home in Woody Creek. Whether it is an aged white farmhouse, or a collection of antique pewter resting on Indian fabric, her paintings capture the allure of her everyday surroundings. Rather than depicting images in a precise representation, Wyly prefers to paint her impression of her memories after spending time in an area or viewing a particularly captivating display.
Kelly Wyly was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. Kelly's mother, Rosemary Acton, is an artist as well, and encouraged her daughter to start painting when she was a young child. She has been painting ever since she could hold a paintbrush in her hand. Ms. Wyly studied fine art at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon and Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. She studied under the tutelage of Master ceramicists Francis Milici and Dominique Sassi for two years. She currently is co-owner of Elliott Yeary Gallery located in Aspen, Colorago where her ceramics and paintings are on permanent exhibit. Ms. Wyly's ceramics are also on exhibit At Galerie Sassi-Milici in Ballauris, France.
