Mary Katherine Pegues-Fickel was born into a family of artists. Raised in East Texas, she studied under her mother and grandmother. She resided in Dallas for five years and considered art as a past time. Her pattern on pattern style and bold textures create an original, unique look. With encouragement from family and friends, Mary Katherine decided in February 2008 to pursue a career as an artist. Making a bold move, she relocated to the Hill Country. Her art was first presented to the public in the summer of 2008 in her family’s gallery in Fredericksburg, Texas. Currently she is performing live art demonstrations at various events throughout Texas.

Kelly Red is a series, based on the warm, yet intense, red skyline often seen at night in the Texas Hill Country.
