Valton Tyler was born in Texas City and was three at the time of the oil refinery explosion. He still vividly remembers the red of the flame-colored sky. Early on, he found release and pleasure in conceiving fantastic and extraordinary drawings and paintings. Although they bewildered his peers, his early drawings led the way to his introduction to the print shop at Southern Methodist University, and a new medium of expression. This is one of 50 resulting prints that were published in the book "The First Fifty Prints: Valton Tyler" in 1972. Valton Tyler continues to paint and currently lives in the Dallas area.
