Stewards of Children is a revolutionary sexual abuse prevention training program that educates adults to prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child sexual abuse, and motivates them to courageous action. The Stewards of Children program is designed for organizations and corporations that serve children and youth.

The curriculum can be used by organizations and corporations who are:

  • Seeking training for staff and volunteers in the prevention of child sexual abuse.
  • Wanting to make a difference in their community by educating adults about the protection of children.
  • Needing to respond to insurance requirements regarding child protection.
  • Wanting to enhance community training initiatives and develop potential sources of revenue.

A facilitator is a representative whom organizations send to be trained on how to implement the Stewards of Children program. This facilitator may provide the training within a specific organization and/or in the broader community.

Facilitators attend an all-day workshop. They receive:

  • A Facilitator manual
  • A Stewards of Children workbook
  • A Stewards of Children training tape (VHS/DVD)
  • A Child Protection Policies and Procedures manual
  • Membership in the Facilitator ListServ
  • Authorization to purchase workbooks for training
  • Training evaluation tools
  • Access to a Facilitator Resources password-protected area on the Darkness to Light website
  • On-going support from D2L professional staff
