The Dallas Children's Advocacy Center has flexible and meaningful opportunities for those interested in volunteering their time and unique talents towards restoring hope to children who have been abused.

Volunteer Requirements:

  • An interview, criminal and CPS criminal background check, and training is required for all people who wish to volunteer.
  • Minimum age to volunteer is 18.
  • All volunteers must receive comprehensive training.
  • Volunteer orientation is held twice a month, once in the evening and once during the day. No orientation is held in December.

Please complete the volunteer application below and a DCAC staff member will contact you. If you have any questions, please email us at volunteer@dcac.org.

Volunteer Opportunities Include:

Individuals or small groups (4-6 people)

  • Provide Child Care in our Waiting Rooms, daily. Provide a safe, warm and fun environment for all children entering our building.
  • Evening Program Activity; Monday – Thursday, 4:30 - 7:30 p.m. Host a movie night, book fair, carnival or other activity for kids in our evening Children’s Program.
  • Dining Series: Monday and Tuesday evenings; Wednesday and Thursday to be added soon.  Provide dinner to clients attending evening group or individual therapy sessions. Sign-up to buy or cook a meal, sign-up to serve a meal or sign-up for both.
  • Room Makeovers: Twice Monthly, weekday mornings. Often a survivor of child abuse has experienced trauma within the walls of their own home. A room makeover helps to provide new memories of their living space. Help purchase room items; help install the room makeover or sign-up to do both.

Corporate or large groups

  • Give Back Day at DCAC. Visit DCAC and learn about the work we do and how you can be a part of it. Your day will include a lunch and learn about child abuse and keeping children safe. Your group will help give back through a volunteer experience.
  • Host a Donation Drive.  Our clothes closet constantly needs to be restocked with new, unused items. Gather your group together to host a donation drive and deliver the goods to DCAC. Donation Drive ideas: diapers, infant needs, shoes and socks, jeans, clothes, toys, books, electronics (tablets, ear buds), art supplies.
