Volunteer Opportunities
 

The Dallas Children's Advocacy Center has diverse, flexible, and meaningful opportunities for those interested in volunteering their time and unique talents toward restoring dignity, hope, and trust to children traumatized by physical and sexual abuse. All volunteers receive comprehensive training.

Volunteers are a welcomed and appreciated part of the DCAC team.  An interview, criminal and CPS criminal background check, and training is required for all people who wish to volunteer.

Volunteer opportunities include:


Playroom Volunteer
Playroom Volunteers assist the Center's children in play activities while they are waiting for an interview or therapy session.

Playroom Volunteer Shifts:

Monday through Thursday
9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
1:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
4:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Friday
9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
1:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Saturday
9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Administrative Volunteer
Administrative Volunteers assist in the Center's business offices with clerical work, data entry, making copies, answering telephones, bookkeeping, or research projects.

Administrative Volunteer Shifts:

Monday through Friday
9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
1:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.


Special Projects
There are always an abundance of special projects taking place throughout the year at the Center. Volunteers play a huge part in their continued success.

A few examples are:

Spring

  • Spring Cleaning Inside DCAC

Summer

  • Backpack/School Supply/ DISD Uniform Drive

Fall / Winter

  • Holiday Giving Project - Oct. - Dec.

Ongoing

  • Clothes Closet New Clothing Drive
  • Center Wish List Item Drive
  • Team Appreciation Pizza or Ice Cream Social

Animal Assisted Therapy Volunteer

Specially trained animal-handler teams participate in a variety of activities at the center. Click here for information on how to qualify.
